Whistler Heli Proposal

Immerse yourself in the beauty of Whistler with a unique helicopter proposal experience. Delve into the serene landscapes and pristine surroundings as you plan the perfect moment to propose. Our guide provides practical insights and advice to help you navigate the logistics and preparation needed for a memorable helicopter proposal in Whistler.

Prepare

  1. Wear warm clothing and avoid heels. We recommend gloves, a beanie/toque, sturdy shoes, long pants/jeans, and a large jacket.

  2. Arrive at the Blackcomb Helicopters office at least 20 minutes before your scheduled departure time. The Whistler Heliport is located at 9960 Heliport Rd, Whistler, BC V0N 1B0 and is a 10 min drive north of the village. If you need transport, please let me know and I can organise transport through Blackcomb Helicopters from the village.

At the heliport

  1. Your photographer Janice and videographer Rachel will meet you at the heliport. No payment is required. You must sign a waiver when you arrive unless you signed it electronically beforehand.

  2. Rachel and Janice will introduce themselves as part of the marketing team with Blackcomb Helicopters and will be joining you on the flight to get some marketing content for social media.

  3. Rachel will place a lav microphone in a black pouch in the washroom for you to attach to your jacket. Please excuse yourself to use the bathroom on the left side before the flight. Remove the mic from the pouch and clip the mic to your collar or upper jacket. Please the recording unit in an inside pocket. Please avoid the mic coming into contact with clothing as that may rustle.

  4. You will receive a safety induction before the flight.

  5. The helicopter has limited space for bags and extra layers, fitting only about one backpack per person.

  6. The helicopter flight will be a quick 6 minutes to the landing location, and the pilot will give you guidance on what to do. Once you arrive, you can step out and enjoy the view.

Proposal Instructions

  1. Take some photos with your phone while you’re there. We will ask if you want us to take a photo of you with your phone. Hand us your phone, and we will either give it back or keep it in our pocket. This is your cue to propose.

  2. During the proposal, take your time and try to ignore us for as long as possible. When you’re ready, let us know and we’ll move into a short engagement-style shoot with more guidance.

  3. You will have 20 minutes at the landing location before heading back to the helicopter for the flight down. If you purchased the gold heli package, you’ll have an extended scenic tour of the Whistler area.

Plan B

In the event of poor weather that prevents the helicopter from flying, we default to a valley proposal. Please let me know your preference of location based on the proposal guide.
