Love in the Little Things
Sami and Jacob were living their best lives in the Netherlands when they decided to shake things up with a big move to London. Originally from Nova Scotia, these two had gotten engaged while exploring Europe and planned to tie the knot back home. But before that, we cooked up something special—a little DIY elopement right in Amsterdam, the city they’d been calling home. What better way to celebrate their love story than in a place so meaningful to them?
We kicked off the day with a relaxed engagement shoot in the morning. Casual vibes, comfy clothes, a coffee in hand, just the way they like it.
Getting Ready
Next stop: The Hoxton Amsterdam, where Sami and Jacob got ready together. One of the best things about elopements? There are no rules. Want to get ready side by side? Do it. Want to snack in between? Absolutely. It’s your day, your way.
From there, we strolled through the local market, soaking in the sights and grabbing fresh flowers (because, of course!). Lunch was a laid-back feast of burgers at Hersch Co. – fuel for the big moments ahead.
For their vow exchange, we headed to the Botanical Gardens, a stunning spot that became the heart of their day. Amidst the greenery, under the shelter of the glasshouse during a sudden rain shower, Sami and Jacob shared their vows. It was emotional, raw, and utterly beautiful, tears and all.
Afterwards, we wandered back through the city streets, capturing every little moment of joy, love, and connection.
Eloping in Amsterdam felt so them, fun, spontaneous, and full of meaning. If you’re dreaming of a Europe elopement that’s as unique and personal as your love story, Amsterdam is a vibe.
