Laura and Xavier: A Wes Anderson Inspired Wedding

Laura and Xavier’s wedding day at the Teahouse in Stanley Park was like stepping into a Wes Anderson film set – whimsical, enchanting, and utterly delightful. From the moment I arrived, I could see their clear vision shining through in every detail. The forest ceremony nestled amidst the trees was straight out of a fairy tale, and the table decor was intricately designed with Anderson-esque charm. As I clicked away, capturing the magic of their day, I couldn’t help but immerse myself in the whimsical ambiance. And let’s not forget the fun I had in post-production, playing with color grading to ensure that every shot matched the dreamy vibe of the event. Shooting this wedding was an absolute blast

On a November day in Stanley Park, where Xavier chose to pop the question to Laura at the picturesque Siwash Rock lookout, just before their milestone 10-year anniversary. The ring may have been a tad too small but the couple celebrated over dinner at the Teahouse, unaware that it would become the venue for their future nuptials in a Wes Anderson inspired wedding celebration.

From the moment they met at a house party in Kingston, Ontario, where Laura was a university student and Xavier was visiting a friend, their connection was undeniable. Bonding over a marathon viewing of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, their relationship flourished despite the distance, nurtured through countless Skype calls until Laura made the move to Vancouver in 2014.

Their wedding day was a meticulously curated affair, inspired by Wes Anderson. In the lush trees of Stanley Park, Laura and Xavier exchanged vows in a whimsical ceremony with an intimate gathering of close friends and family. In a unique twist, they incorporated a Kentucky bourbon ceremony, symbolizing their shared love for good times and cherished moments. One month prior, they had buried a bottle of bourbon at the ceremony site, which they unearthed together, pouring its contents into glasses for their wedding party to share. It took a while for Xavier to find it though!

Against the backdrop of the Teahouse, Laura and Xavier’s ceremony unfolded in a secluded clearing, reminiscent of a scene from one of Anderson’s films. Here, amidst the tranquil beauty of nature, they embarked on a new chapter of their journey together. Every detail of their day was infused with thoughtfulness and intentionality, from the decor by Bespoke Decor to the exquisite florals by River And Sea Flowers. Symmetry played a starring role in both the editing style.
